insufficient disk space

My backup jobs are going to a SAN(E:) which has an alloted space of 10TB. It has a treshold set at 10 gigs. My backup jobs are set to append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available. Over the weekend, my backup-to-disk folder ran out of disk space.  I thought it would have supposed to overwrite if no appendable media is available?

Also, my media set is only 'Keep data for 2 weeks'. Can I just go to my E: and delete anything older than 2 weeks?

Thanks..

Best practice when backing up to disk is to never append, always overwrite. BE 2012 introduced this concept, but previous versions have obviously kept it in.

Since you've appended to your media, it might cause issues when deleting B2Ds...you're probably going to have to let them expire after changing the retention type. The Admin Guide has more information on this, as well as the TN below:

Thanks!
