what kind of backup works best for backing up a SQL backup (.bkp) file. I know it's recommended to backup the backups anyway. Does differentai and icrimental even play into this, or should it always be a full backup? or, should it be one of the others? Thanks!

I'm sure you mean .BAK files and not .BKP??
These are basically flat-files, and you should be able to back them up using a regular full/incre/diff backup job.
So, for your diff/incre backup query, they work on archive bits, depending on your .bak files archive bit statue (set/reset) they will be backed up accordingly.
hope this helps.
