linux agent on virtual machines

Hi,

I have purchased symantec Backupexec vmware suite + 2 no's vmware host agent for my esx server's.

Using GRT, i understand that from virtual machine backup we can't able to restore a file or folder on a linux machines.

In this case can we use a individual RALUS ( remote agent for linux) for the file level backup and restore?

Since i have a VMware suite ESX host license and still need a license for linux agent to use any one of the virtual linux machine?

pl. advise.

Thanks.

No, the AVVI agent includes the right to install the BE remote agent on all your VM's, regardless what OS they are. So you can install the agent on Linux without buying an extra remote agent.

(for Exchange/SQL/Sharepoint/....) you do need to purchase the agents.

See the AVVI Agent FAQ:

After you install the RALUS in the Linux VM, you can back it up just like a physical machine.  However, do check that your Linux distro is a supported.  See the SCL below.
