Hello there,
i m new to bkp exec 16...
i take backup to disk to tape
i want the backup to disk 1st day of month..then duplicate to tape to stay on tape for 26 weeks (keep data)
we have limited number of tapes .. so how i should set the values of overwrite and append to tape?
i did the below
overwrite same as keep the data
append..infinite..always append..
but i m afraid that if i set overwrite less than the period to keep data..it overwrites it..
any help regarding these concepts and how to set them correctly is really appreciated..thanx :)

Strategy can be deceided if we know more details about the environment like,

# Size of tape (compressed / uncompressed)

# Size of Full backup.

# Size of incremental backup.

Thanks and Regards,

I would suggest you to read below article to understand the concept of OPP and AP

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH5459

We have LTO 5 tapes (1.38 TB uncomprssed) only 5 tapes, each tape has its own media set all infinite append, with overwrite periods vary (90 days, 91 days, 365 days, 61 days and 26 weeks) We want duplicate jobs to run per project, for share to run weekly abd keep it for 90 days, and another duplicate monthly to keep data 365 days. Backup size is 251 GB. I am used to Netbackup..so i thought bkp exec works the same...but i found that keep data for has no meaning once it is duplicated to tape..what matters is OPP and APP..and i want to fill up the tape till max..how this can be acheived??
