planning a special Job BE2012

Hi

I have a question about planning a job in Backup Exec 2012.

My Infrastructure:

- Backup Exec 2012

- 1 Overland Tape Library with 2 tape drives

- Only Windows

Every 4 weeks, we will bring our tapes in a safe and change the tape drive. These bands are called "Monthly".

We usually do a full save every Friday and an increment job from Monday to Thursday on tapes 1-21 into a Overland Library. Saturday and Sunday are no jobs configured. We want to configure that all 4 weeks the Monthlyjob is the only one who is running and not even the full save additional. This monthly save goes to the tapes 22-28.

The rhythm looks:

- Week 1 Full

- Week 2 Full

- Week 3 Full

- Week 4 Month

- Week 5 Full

- Week 6 Full

- Week 7 Full

- Week 8 Month

- Week 9 Full

- and so on..

There was an option in Backup Exec 2010 calendar but they skipped that out.

How can I do this with Backup Exec 2012 Version?. Has anyone an idea?

You want only MONTHLY Full to run on every 4th Friday and other full backup to be skipped. Correct?

If you configure Your Weekly Full backups and Monthly backups of same client to run during exact same time on Friday, then Monthly bakcup will be superseeding other backup as that is the one running less frequently compared to other. You no need to do anything special other than providing the exactly same schedule to both jobs Monthly Full and Full (If you don't have two jobs created in such a way create them. One for Weekly Full with 1 week frequency and another for Monthly Full with 4Weeks frequency. schedule them to run during the same time).

Once you complete configuring schedules for all your jobs, have a look at Calender option in BE. It shows which jobs will be running on a specific day. If you look for 4th/8th... friday, it should show monthly full superseded weekly full.
