question about exclusions from backups

I have noticed that a lot of my backups complete with exceptions, because of a few anti virus files can not be opened.  I assume that I should exclude the directory

c:\program files\symantec antivirus\savrt

This is where the .tmp files are that I can not backup.  The question is this, I have about 50 jobs or so, Do I have to go into each to exclude this directory, or is there a  way to globally stop this folder from being backed up on each server and each job.  whats the easiest way to handle this?
I am running BE 12.5 2213

You can create global exclusions. Please follow the documents below:

Please mark it a solution, if this is useful.

Also, if the target server is Windows 2003. With BE 12.5, we have AOFO free. So, you can go ahead and select "Advanced Open File Option" in backup job properties and enable it so that VSS is used for these type of files which are open, and they would not be skipped.

Thanks

Hi there,

If you have 1 selection list that you point all your jobs too, you only need do this once.
If you have multiple selection lists, you'd have to do this on each one.
If it's the same selection list, consider using a wildcard entry like: *\program files\Symantec antivirus\savrt. This should apply it to all servers.

Hi there,

Have the same problem as you with SAV and MOM entries.  As I have separate jobs had to exclude on each job or use the wildcards suggested above.  Is somewhat of a maintenance headache especially since Symantec likes to move files around with different versions.

That did it it looks like, I jsut excluded .tmp files, that should solve the issue nicely, at least it did with a few tests.

I was going to use the AOFO, but I was told by support not to use it on DB or sql or exchange servers, and really only for file servers, and with out it on, it should be a bit speedier.
