restore single table space or data file from oracle

I am using backup exec 2014 and, and i have in my enviroment oracle database work on linux server , the dba administrator  want to restore single table space or data file, he dont want to restore all database.i see the option on backup exec 2014 i found two option for oracle database restoration

  • first option restore from control file: if i understood it right it means to restore full database.
  • second option restore oracle tablespace or datafile using the current online database which i cant understand what he mean from this option and when i use this option  

can you help me to restore single table space or data file from oracle database that backed up.

It is not possible to do a Point-in-Time-Recovery of a single tablespace.

It is possible to do a Point-In-Time Recovery of the whole instance/database using the control-file-recovery.

you may recreate the TS as a dummy so the tablespace is recognized in Backup Exec and then to start a recover of this TS.
