Hello,

My server had a bad hard drive in a RAID5 Array.  I have to run checkdisc to get the system back up.  backup exec would not start.  I ran a repair install and when it starts up I get the following message in the even viewer.  I am running Server 2003 SP2 Backupexec 11d.

Faulting application BkupExec.exe, version 11.0.7170.45, faulting module vxxml4c.dll, version 3.1.0.5, fault address 0x00000000001de28d.

Any help would be appreicated

I ended up deleting the vxxml4c.dll file and running a repair of the Backup Exec software and the system came back.  Must have been a corrupted file

Everyday Backup Exec runs DB maintenance and creates a backup of the BEDB.

You may reload the last good backup of the Backup Exec database which should fix this issue.

Refer to http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH67962

Note: Before proceeding with the above step make a copy of the DATA folder its located at

X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\.

Hi,

The other, less intrusive option, would be to run a BEDB repair using beutility.exe.

Failing that, reload from the backup...and if that doesn't work, you will have to load a blank DB.

Also, just make sure that all the patches are loaded, and that you are running SP5 for BE 11d.

Thanks!

I have also run a repair and recover and reloading a backup copy.

Where can I get a blank database from?

The option where you selected "Reload from backup" above that you will find "Relaod from base"

Note: When you reload from base you will lose all the data (jobs, policies, media set etc)

When I log into the server remotely and open up WIndows explorer I get the following pop up

Again thanks for your time and suggestions
