Is there a way to receive an email when the tape is inserted or ejected? I need to know if the tape is ejected with no reason or if the employee forgets to put it in the server...

I think, alerts should work for you.

check "alerts" -> "configure alert categories"

This enables you to activate notifications for several categories.

Yes, entirely possible....
Go into Alerts in BEWS --> Configure alert categories, and enable the following alerts:

1. Media Insert
2. Media Remove

You can assign these alerts to recipients who will receive this via email or whatever else you have set up!

I think those advices work when the server asks to insert or remove media, not when a human does it. Have you tried them?

Nope I haven't. Although I do know something like HYP Systems Manager which we use in our Data Center detects when things are opened or not.
Give them a bash and see if they work.

we used to use backup reports! used to send us everything. we then turned off successful ones so it only sent e-mails of failed reports. mostly due to tapes being spat out! if i recall cant you set it to send texts messages if you have a telephony card in the server????
