Did you mean:

the job was delayed

I have several jobs and it is running well 99% time. one or two times the full backup spent more than 24 hours and I configured daily backup with 24 hours. so if the job was not finished with 24 hours, all the others were delayed and then missed. So i want to investigate the reasons. my way is to check which file spent long time. because it is file server and i have 400GB data. can somebody help me how to check when the be12.5 backuped which file? I am sure our network switch is stable and 1000Mb speed.
thanks for your support.

Hi MyLee,

By default BEWS has Job Logs information set at: Summary Information Only. This would tell you the bare minimum for your job like time taken, bytes backed up, tape used etc.
To get what you want in terms of file details, look at increasing the amount of information shown.
You can do this through: Tools --> Options --> Job Logs, and choose Summary information, directories, files, and file details.
With this level of information though, the job log will increase in size, but it should be what you're looking for.
As for slow backups, lots of reasons really...amount of files, switch speeds, network port speeds, type of drive etc.
Look over these 2 links I have also added in:

CraigV, thanks for your nice response.
that is true. i saw the log size grow to 4Mb from 10Kb.
My question is how can I filer file server log. Because I have more than 10 servers. it is hard to check one by one.

Hi MyLee,

That's really the only way, unless you load up Symantec's CASO Option for Backup Exec 12.5. It's licensed, but it will allow for central management of your servers.
You could then look into generating a report to see what was backed up and when, or simply use that 1 interface to check your jobs.
It centralises jobs as 1 of the ways in which it can get installed (I don't do that due to bandwidth restrictions in Africa\Asia), but all servers report their job statuses to it. Something to look at.
Let me know if you need any more info/help.
