Hi

I am installing Symantec Backup 2010 Desktop/ Laptop agent on the Windows 7 32bit plateform but facing the issue and getting the error message given below..

"The machine does not have the minimum required MDAC version 2.8 in Windows 7".

If someone face same issue with windows 7. kindly share the solution

It is listed as fix for Vista, but will probably also work with Windows 7.

Hi Rakesh,

DLO supports versions 2.7 and 2.8 of MDAC.

MDAC 2.8 is the default and is installed during the installation if it is not already
installed.

When MDAC 2.8 is installed, a restart may be required......

If a non-administrator logs on first after the MDAC 2.8 installation, the
process generates a number of errors.

To force the use of MDAC 2.7, you can add the following CmdLine value in the setup.ini file in the DLO installation set:

REQUIREDMDACVERSION="2.7".
To force the use of MDAC 2.7, you can add the following CmdLine value in the setup.ini file in the Desktop Agent installation set:

REQUIREDMDACVERSION="2.7".
For example in the file:
CmdLine=/qf DEFAULTMEDIASERVER="SERVERNAME"
DLODBINSTANCENAME="BKUPEXEC" LAUNCHCLIENT="1"
REQUIREDMDACVERSION="2.7"/l*v"%TEMP%\DLOAgentInstall.log"
