Backup Exec media server crash all the time, i think i am going to reinstall backup exec.

Is it  possible to uninstall and then install Backup Exec without losing the data deduplicated before and can restore them?

Hi,

I would assume you'd do the following:

1. Stop the BE services and grab copies of the Data/Catalogs folders;

2. Unpresent the iSCSI LUN(s) so as to prevent BE from removing it.

3 Uninstall BE, and then reinstall it, and copy the Data/Catalogs folders across again before representing the iSCSI LUN(s) and starting the BE services.

You just need to confirm this with support.

Have you tried a repair of both BE and the BEDB (using BEutility.exe)? Is the media server fully patched? Have you checked out the Alerts tab to see if there are any alerts that indicate why BE crashes?

Thanks!
