Can I replace any tape cartridges of different kind (brand, file capacity) in the tape drive just that it have to be support by the tape drive (LTO-5)?

Yes. The LTO is a standard and the brand should not matter. LTO5 tape drives can read and write LTO5 and LTO4 tapes only
