version 9 to 10

The organization I work for currently has a service contract through CDW and purchases its licenses through there as well. Currently version 9 is in use on our production systems but we are looking to make the move to version 10. We have the trial for version 10.

What would we need to do to make the move from version 9 to version 10? Do we need to get the software from our vendor or can the downloaded trial version be used and made into a production version? Most of our current licenses are for version 9 however a few recent ones such as robotic library support are for version 10 as part of our plans moving forward.

Thank you for your time.

You may be in line for V9 to V10 upgrade license keys from Veritas. If CDW did not register the licenses in your name, you'll probably have to deal with CDW to get any upgrade due you. V9 keys are not compatible with V10. You need new keys. The download software simply expires in 60 days if you do not enter valid keys. Tools > Serial Numbers and Installation to enter the keys. There is some V10 hinkiness in entering keys after you've installed V10. Play with it until you see the numbers when you go to the option again.

Hi,

With regards to your query, it seems that you would like to upgrade from Backup Exec 9.1 to 10.0.

As you have mentioned that you have installed Backup Exec 10.0 in evaluation mode. This will work only for 60 days. In order to make the evaluation version licensed, you will need the license and you have mentioned that yu have a contarct with CDW. We suggest you to contact our sales division. Please contact Veritas Sales Representative for details on upgrade, pricing, licensing and purchasing. You may locate nearest Veritas Sales office from the following URL:

We hope this will help.

Thanks.
