The “Sweet Little Lies” we tell ourselves in resiliency planning

Let’s face it, many of us have what may seem like a million tasks on our plate. And between the flow of daily e-mails and meetings, we may forgo the breaks needed to refresh – the time required to reenergize, so we may do our best work. With this in mind, my team at Veritas is taking a mid-week break to attend a Fleetwood Mac concert, together. It’s a win-win situation – we get to interact with colleagues and enjoy one of rock’s greatest bands!

The aforementioned e-mails and meetings are a simple example of the everyday time sinks we face – what’s even more pressing are the tasks related to keeping enterprise data secure and trusting in the resiliency of technology.

Confidence in a bounce-back strategy – a resiliency plan – can provide those managing enterprise data the ability to rest easy, as long as the plan is carefully constructed. Assuming data is protected without validation is risky.

In honor of our upcoming Fleetwood Mac adventure, here are the four “Sweet Little Lies” we’ve heard in regard to data protection:

  1. Our data is secure.
  2. We’ve uncovered all the good, bad and ugly data within our systems.
  3. In case of an emergency, we’ll be up and running in no time.
  4. Someone already confirmed points 1 through 3, right?

Rather than relying on these four unfounded assertions, wouldn’t it be best to confirm with confidence your organization’s data is protected in the case of malfunction? Veritas can help you investigate these points to determine areas where your company may fortify its resiliency plan.

Identifying blind spots provides your business the immediate opportunity to act. And once you’ve addressed areas of weakness, your team gains peace of mind. We all need peace of mind, so we can take that well-deserved break and truly enjoy the show – Fleetwood Mac or otherwise!
