So when was the last time you made a backup of your data? And, when did you last check if those backups can be restored, should the need arise?
Well, I just completed a backup of my laptop, mobile phone and I’m reminding everyone to make a second copy of all your files - not just the important ones! And where are you keeping that second copy? It doesn't matter as long as it's some place safe.
Just one day? No
World Backup Day is a day for people to learn about the increasing role of data in our lives and the importance of regular backups. No doubt, the irony of a single day a year which puts focus on being able to recover your data is not lost on you, and yet today being that day, 31st March, "World Backup Day" does serve a purpose in a world which continues to generate new data at an unprecedented rate.
So whether you are an enterprise, SMB, or an individual, it’s imperative for everyone to back up data regularly. A reliable backup and DR plan is the key is to ensure not only that all your critical data is protected regularly and frequently and that it is quickly recoverable, between platforms, at whatever level of granularity is required - whatever you need, whenever you need it, with the minimum of fuss.
Test your backups
Losing your files is way more common that you might think. Something as simple as misplacing your phone or as bad as a total hardware failure can leave you wishing you'd backed up files more often. While talking about backup, the focus is also to ensure data can be recovered in the event of a crisis or security breach.
I can share a lot of facts about our products like Backup Exec and others, however, in this post, I will just say that we work really hard at Veritas to be the best in data protection and make sure you never lose your precious data!
Take the pledge
Make a backup today, test it and create a backup plan going forwards.
