FETB Licensing and auditing

How does FETB licensing work? Also how do we audit for space utilization across Clouds? Do you have tools we can use like is available for other backup products?

So how does this work?  From reading it seemed to be based on total size of used disk spce. here are some senarios.

Senario 1, using single server as exmaple for eas of explnation

  • 10 tb drive, 1 tb used, 250 gb changes daily (no growth), we keep 16 backups
  • this would produce a base snapshot of 1tb, with 16 daily snapshots of 250gb
  • Does FETB see this as just 1tb or 1tb + 250 times 16 (4 tb) for a toal of 5tb

Senario 2

  • 10 tb drive, 1 tb used, 100 gb growth daily, we keep 16 backups
  • this would produce a base snapshot of 1tb, with 16 daily snapshots of 100gb
  • Does FETB see this as just 1tb or 1tb + 100 times 16 (1.6 tb) for a toal of 2.6 tb because disk utilization is now 2.6 tb.

senario 3

  • Senario 2 but we delete 500gb off of system
  • What would FETB see as data utilization

Hi there,

Thanks for the question. FETB is calculated based on provisioned & protected storage. So discovery of assets does NOT count, but the counting starts when you take a snapshot, either manually or through automated policies. Also, additional snapshots are not counted.

Scenario 1: The count is 10TB, since that's the provisioned volume space. No change for additional snapshots.

Scenario 2: Again, the count is 10TB, since the volume itself is constant in size (although the data within is growing).

Scenario 3: The FETB consumption is 10TB, since there's no change to volume size.

Hope that helps.
