I'm currently implementing a DR platform for one of our customers as follows:
The platform is composed (currently) of two one-node clusters in a GCO setup
As of today, the setup works as expected, but the customer requires that we use the DataGuard Broker agent to manage the database replication, to avoid impacting other administration procedures.
The problem with that is that the current available version of the AIX agent (184.108.40.206) does not support using the broker agent in a non-RAC configuration, as opposed, for example, to the Solaris version (220.127.116.11), that includes the necessary functionality.
Now, the questions are:
Solved! Go to Solution.
According to pdf at https://sort.symantec.com/agents/detail/5522, dated March 2014 for agent 18.104.22.168, the 22.214.171.124 version is supported on all UNIX platforms - AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris, but the matrix on SORT, as you say, lists latest version for AIX as 126.96.36.199, Solaris as 188.8.131.52 and also, HP-UX as 184.108.40.206 and Linux as 220.127.116.11.
Most agents are written in shell and/or perl and so the code is usually the same between platforms with any platform specific code dealt with using "if statements".
So it is not clear if the document you can download at https://sort.symantec.com/agents/detail/5522 is wrong and there is some speific reason why the agent has diverged into different branches per platform, or whether the 18.104.22.168 agent should be available for AIX.
I will escalate this for you to see if I can get an answer.
Thanks for escalating this, Mike!
@Julio Pacheco, I work with the product management team to review Ideas submitted on a monthly basis, so you've found a gap in response on this one. I'll forward directly to the product manager and see if he has a quick reply for you. Thanks for your patience!
I am happy to report that the Data Guard Broker Agent has now been certified for AIX. The SORT landing page for agents has not been updated yet, but as soon as it is ready I will post another message. Please let me know if you have any questions.
