Hi guys,

Can we cluster two different editions of Windows server 2008 R2 X64 (such that one is standard edition and the other is enterprise edition) using VCS.

Thanks & Regards,

Majid.

Hi Majid,

With VCS you can cluster different editions of Windows.  VCS just checks to make sure that all node are running the the same OS type and architecture.  As long as both servers are running Windows 2008 and are either 32 bit or 64 bit, then VCS will be fine.

You need to keep in mind that VCS will not be able to get around any limitations that are imposed by the specific OS edition being used.  As long as the application being cluster is not affected by the difference in OS edition then you should not have any problems.

Thank you,

Wally
