Hi All,

I have two RHEL 6.4 installed and would like to test out the VCS6.01 with the 60days trial license.

However, after the installation of VCS, the LLT starts as failed and as well as the HAD in the first node.

Here is the startup llt log of the first node:

1 23:48:40 ## Starting llt on station1

1 23:48:40 ## Begin prestart checking for llt on station1

1 23:48:40 cmd /bin/ls -d /etc/init.d/llt 2>/dev/null

1 23:48:40 cmd stdout=

/etc/init.d/llt

1 23:48:40 cmd exit=0 (duration: 0 seconds)

1 23:48:40 cmd /etc/init.d/llt status 2>&1

1 23:48:40 cmd stdout=

LLT module is not loaded

1 23:48:40 cmd exit=0 (duration: 0 seconds)

1 23:48:40 LLT not loaded on station1

1 23:48:40 ## The prestart checking return '0'

1 23:48:40 ## Begin starting llt on station1

1 23:48:40 cmd /etc/init.d/llt start 2>&1

1 23:48:40 cmd stdout=

Starting LLT:

LLT: loading module...

Module with exact version failed to load.

1 23:48:40 cmd exit=1 (duration: 0 seconds)

1 23:48:40 ## The start_sys() return '1'

1 23:48:40 ## Begin poststart checking for llt on station1

1 23:48:40 cmd /bin/ls -d /etc/init.d/llt 2>/dev/null

1 23:48:40 cmd stdout=

/etc/init.d/llt

1 23:48:40 cmd exit=0 (duration: 0 seconds)

1 23:48:40 cmd /etc/init.d/llt status 2>&1

1 23:48:40 cmd stdout=

LLT module is not loaded

1 23:48:40 cmd exit=0 (duration: 0 seconds)

1 23:48:40 LLT not loaded on station1

1 23:48:40 ## The poststart checking return '0'

1 23:48:50 ## Sleep 10, and do poststart checking again

1 23:48:50 cmd /bin/ls -d /etc/init.d/llt 2>/dev/null

1 23:48:50 cmd stdout=

/etc/init.d/llt

1 23:48:50 cmd exit=0 (duration: 0 seconds)

1 23:48:50 cmd /etc/init.d/llt status 2>&1

1 23:48:50 cmd stdout=

When i lsmod to look for llt module, it's just not there in the first node. However, the module is loaded in the second node which the installation is performed from the first node.

There is no /dev/llt in the first node as well.

Anyone can help?

Thanks.

Hi,

Can you confirm if this is a new installation ?  If yes, see if LLT package is installed correctly ..

though the version is different but see if below technote helps

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH176070

Another point I would say is about compatibility, looking at VCS 6.0.1 release notes, supported kernel versions are update 1,2 & 3  i.e

2.6.32-131.0.15.el6
2.6.32-220.el6
2.6.32-279.el6

Cassano,

You need to apply the patch to LLT module. If you use VXFS it may fail as well. Due to changes in RHEL kernel the latest patch of SFHA/VCS should be applied to work properly with the every RHEL update. So consider applying 6.0.5 patch to capture all known issues with VCS functionality on RHEL6U4.

Here is a link. https://sort.symantec.com/patch/detail/8508

Or you can find LLT patch directly from SORT website.
