Question about VCS support for LDOMs

trouphaz

I'm trying to find a support matrix from Symmantec for Solaris LDOMs.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  I just want to make sure we're running the appropriate revision and patch levels of VCS and VxVM.  Thanks in advance.

After digging around on Symmantec's site I found some tool https://vos.symantec.com/home.  This seems to be pretty interesting about evaluating the platform, at least for an upgrade and lists available patches.

What is the current VCS version and patch level?

# modinfo | grep -i vx
# pkginfo -l VRTSvcs

Just for some background, we're seeing multiple panics ever since we migrated to a new Clariion array.  In going through the EMC docs, we found that we're not running a version of VxVM that is supported with the Clariion, PowerPath and Solaris LDOMs.  So, if we're going to be upgrading VCS and VxVM, I wanted to make sure that we're taking Symmantec's requirements into consideration as well.

I would have given you that link for general checklist for install/upgrade, anyways you got it.

It is always advisable to upgrade your product to the latest available patch or product version. If you are not opting for VCS5.1 then you can upgrade your product to 5.0MP3RP3.
You can download the same from fileconnect.

How can you download latest MP or Product?

1.> Verify that that MP exists on FileConnect website http://www.symantec.com/downloads/fileconnect/index.jsp

2.> Go to site https://fileconnect.symantec.com/ .Then site will prompt you for serial number.

After entering serial number, you can download the product that you have purchased (not all products) as well as all updates for that product.

We cant really comment on the panics that you have encountered in the past, that can better be answered by Technical Support after a thorough investigation.

I believe you may not find RP3 from fileconnect but you can download MP3.

I will give you link for RP3 for Solaris Sparc, I believe you are running on Sparc as you have applied e1084049 which is for Sol Sparc.

Hope this helps.
