Running HA commands as non-root users on Veritas clusters

V020654

Hi Experts,

I'm an ex veritas and i'm looking for some assistance to run HA commands as non-root users on Veritas clusters.

basically this fails when I do a failover as non-root user

hauser1@nmautovcsp04:~> /opt/VRTSvcs/bin/hagrp -switch nonroot -to nmautovcsp03 ( note – nonroot is the HA resource group name)

VCS NOTICE V-16-1-52563 VCS Login:admin

Enter Password:

VCS WARNING V-16-1-10205 Group nonroot is faulted on system nmautovcsp03

hauser1@nmautovcsp04:~>

Observations: under non-root user HA commands like hastatus and hagrp switch will ask for VCS Login ( i.e. default credentails)

after entering credentails it error’s with a warning and failover doesn’t work

Reading through  VCS docs indicates we have a configuration by which we can set non-root user for VCS HA

https://sort.veritas.com/public/documents/sf/5.1/aix/html/vcs_admin/ch_admin_vcs_from_cli26.html#702...

Experimented this article and it didnt help much.

any suggestions on how to get this working?

Microfocus Network Node Management (NNMi) customer extensively use VCS for High Availablity. I'm not sure if VCS is part of symantec or the new veritas software,  also i'm aware if we have support contract but is there a way I could reach partner support to get a speedy response? This is one of the urgent requirements for our current sprint and it is critical that we deliver non-root functionality for HA in this Release.

Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Roshan

Hi.

I am thinking that your authentication is fine. When you see an error about “Service Group is faulted” one must clear the fault first, then execute the switch.
