Is this a fresh install of the SharePoint Solution?
You must be the SharePoint Administrator to deploy a solution globally in SharePoint. This is referred to as a site collection administrator or Farm Administrator.
How large is your Farm? Using an administrator with Farm privileges usually gets you around the error.
We require an active WebApp and sites configured to add a solution. The Admins should minimally be the site collection Admin as below:
Preferably the Farm Administrator or group member as below:
A properly configured and deployed solution will appear as:
Is this an upgrade of an existing solution?
You are required to retract and uninstall a solution prior to deploying a new solution.
Which version of SharePoint and which version of Symantec DataInsight are you using?
The server and client must match for the communication to function after you install the solution.
Let me know if there are further questions on the deployment of the SharePoint solution for the Symantec DataInsight integration with SharePoint.
Note: A couple of quick notes for your information: We do not support strictly claims based authentication in the current version and we need a NTLM user to discover and audit the site collections, SharePoint installs are version specific you should only use the applicable installer for the proper version of SharePoint (2010 and 2013 versions are designated in the binary name, without designation it applies to the 2007 version), the C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataInsight\log\sharepoint_audit.log and C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataInsight\log\sharepoint_util.log will designate the matching versions and are located on the Collector Worker node. Check for lines:
Client version: 3.1.9.005
Webservice version: 3.1.9.005
and ensure they are matched.
On the SharePoint node you are installing the solution on the C:\Program Files\Symantec\DataInsight\log\cli0.0 will track deployment. It will contain the commandline Deploying solution: [C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN\STSADM.EXE, -o, deploysolution, -name, sdispwebsvc.wsp, -immediate, -allowGacDeployment] and the result. If further assistance is required we would look to analyze this file.
I hope this helps in moving you closer to proper deployment of the solution on the SharePoint server / Farm.
