Do the collector nodes talk back to the Indexers via normal RPC ports?

Dave:

Collectors gather info on the devices and parse it for the database entries then use the file transfer job running every minute to send the data to the indexer for processing over port 8383. We use specific ports for the communication from devices and between worker nodes and when you install or upgrade via push we need the WMI and RPC ports.

All info is noted in the Data Insight Install Guide-- pages 17-18 for general port information, page 34 for additional Firewall port configuration information. You can find the guide under http://www.symantec.com/business/support/resources/sites/BUSINESS/content/live/DOCUMENTATION/7000/DO....

An older Firewall tech note can be accessed under http://http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH220253 or there is a convenient table in the Release Notes http://www.symantec.com/business/support/resources/sites/BUSINESS/content/live/DOCUMENTATION/8000/DO...  page 29.

For your question the Collector worker node\ Indexer plus Collector worker node use:

Communication service, HTTPS port 8383
Standard RPC ports 139 and 445
DataInsightConfig service, port 8282
NetApp Cluster-Mode service, TCP port 8787 (configurable)
Generic Collector service, HTTPS port 8585   (configurable)

Please see the guide for all pertinent ports for each area of the application and ensure your firewalls are configured to allow the traffic for continued smooth operations.
