Can DLO run standalone without Backup Exec Server ?

Hi,

I read the article and understand mostly DLO implemented with Backup Exec integration. I plan to run the DLO (all in one server) in a VM.

Wondering will it be able to run standalone without the Backup Exec ? If yes, what are the purpose we want to integrate it with Backup Exec Server ?

If I remember correctly, DLO became a totally separate product when BE 2012 was released. Prior to this, DLO was installed along with BE.

You can download the new version of DLO and run it without Backup Exec, unless you want to backup the disk storage to tape...then you'd need to have BE or an equivalent!
