Dear all,

I have some question asked by customer in regard of Symantec DLO:

  1. Does Symantec DLO support both domain and workgroup environment ?
  2. Currently the customer intend to backup log files from desktop/laptop, is Symantec DLO able to backup open files ?
  3. Does Symantec DLO able to backup via mobile internet , e.g where 3G dongle is attached to a laptop ?
  4. Does Symantec DLO able to backup the last logfile if the user has switch off their desktop/ laptop for a few days ?
  5. Does Symantec DLO able to generate reports for devices which missed the backup schedule ?

Thank you

Hi MingHar,

1. Workgroups aren't supported...check the TN below:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH187991

2. DLO won't backup open files. As per the Admin Guide, any open files will be skipped and left in a pending state, and once closed will be backed up at the next backup run.

3. I've tested this and yes, it does...don't forget if you're backing up a large amount of data, the data bundle will get depleted VERY quickly.

4. If a user turns their workstation off for a couple of days, when it gets turned on, DLO will run a scheduled backup and backup any changes.

5. There is a report called "Failed Backup by Computer: --> this is the report you would look at.

Thanks!

DLO needs domain id's, but the machines can be in a workgroup.
