issues with backing up of PST's in DLO v7

Our administration server is running Backup Exec 2012 v14.0.1798 on Windows Server 2008 R2 (Standard 64-bit).  Our end user systems are running Symantec DLO v7.0.  Most end user systems are running Windows 7 32-bit with Office Professional 2010 32-bit.  A handful of users are experiencing problems similar to this:

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH155711

Specifically, "There is no specific error.  The backup seems to complete successfully however it may take a long time and the workstations may appear to freeze, combined with slow reponse and excessive disk I/O and CPU utilization."

I am wondering if this KB article applies to the versions of DLO and administration server that we are running?  The article is from 2010 and updated in 2013, so I was not sure if it was applicable.

The users who are having this problem have to either 1) unload their archives from Outlook, or 2) exit out of or suspend DLO.  With DLO running, I believe that with the DLO agent accessing and backing up the PST's while Outlook is open, is causing Outlook to completely lock up.  It will lock up even when you are doing things unrelated to the archive.  When you then force close Outlook (which you have to do), and attempt to restart Outlook, it will become stuck on "Loading Profile..." and will not open until you restart the computer.  Once you restart the computer and load Outlook again, it will work for a short period of time before the cycle repeats.  It is making it impossible for the affected users to get anything done.

Can anyone advise?

Our network is pretty locked down, so end users do not have access to change settings (ie., de-selecting the PST from backup).  The only thing that they can do from the client side is suspend the backup temporarily, and even getting them to do that has been a chore because most users are not very technically savvy.  We really need a solution to stop these systems from locking up constantly.

This behavior is mostly noticed when MAPI (message level incremental) based backups of .psts are enabled under mail options of the profile. Would recommend to uncheck this option and keep only vss backups of .psts enabled.

Additionally, do enable delta file transfer for the .pst backup selections and keep atleast 1 revision on both DUDF and NUDF.

Hi,

even with this configuration the cpu goes to 100% during all the process, that is usually long.

thank you,

If possible, would recommend to upgrade to SDLO 7.5. And would also recommend to log a formal support case for us to review this in depth.
