Custom Attributes in search, specifically message direction

EV and DA are v904 for us.

On occasion, we need to search based on the direction of the message; specifically, external outbound messages. I'm trying to use it this morning and it's capturing messages that are internally sent. We have multiple internal domain names and I cannot find where in Enterprise Vault or Discovery Accelerator where to specify which domains are internal.

Greetings, NaturesRevenge;

If you have a Journal Task configured in your EV environment, you can log a dtrace of the JournalTask process while starting your Journal Task to get a record of what EV 'thinks' is a listing of your internal SMTP domains.  Typically,these are found on the SMTP addresses of the Vault Service Account.

You can also specify internal SMTP domains using a registry value named InternalSMTPDomains.  Look in the Registry_Values.pdf file in your EV Server's Documentation folder (in the EV installation folder).  For EV 10.0.4, you'll find the information for this value for a Domino environment on Page 85.  Page 86 has the information for this value for Exchange environments.

Please note that ANY recipient in an e-mail message that does not have an SMTP address will cause EV to tag the message direction as External Outbound (Message Direction 3).
