Prompt For Connection CA &DA

Hi 

 

I need to connect DA with different instance and I am trying to set DA client manually. Currently it set as automatically, did the change on config file as TRUE but still its connecting automatically

Can someone assist me on this

How to revert the setting so the Compliance Accelerator (CA) or Discovery Accelerator (DA) 8.x, 9.x, 10.x client will prompt a user to connect to a customer instance.

 

Cause

 
 

When connecting to CA/DA 8.x, 9.x, 10.x client, the default setting is to prompt a user which instance to connect to.  The option is called "Ask every time the application is opened".  When this option is unchecked, it no longer prompts to connect to the instance.  If there are multiple instances, the CA/DA client will only connect to the same instance when the option was unchecked.  As a result, if a user wants to connect to a different instance, there is no option to select a different instance due to the step taken earlier.
 

 

Solution


 

To allow the CA/DA Client to prompt a user to select an Instance to which to connect, a value in the StartupPreferences.xml file needs to be edited to its default value; this file is located on the machine where CA/DA Client is installed. Follow these steps to revert the setting back to its default value:
 
1. If using CA, browse to the C:\Users\<profile>\AppData\Roaming\Symantec Corporation\Enterprise Vault Accelerators\Compliance_Client folder (if using Windows Vista, Server 2008 or higher) or C:\Documents and Settings\<profile>\Application Data\Symantec Corporation\Enterprise Vault Accelerator\Compliance_Client\ folder (if using Windows XP, Server 2003 or lower), find the StartupPreferences.xml file and open it using Notepad or a text editor.
 
2. If using DA, browse to the C:\Users\<profile>\AppData\Roaming\Symantec Corporation\Enterprise Vault Accelerators\Discovery_Client folder (if using Windows Vista, Server 2008 or higher) or C:\Documents and Settings\<profile>\Application Data\Symantec Corporation\Enterprise Vault Accelerator\Discovery_Client\ folder (if using Windows XP, Server 2003 or lower), find the StartupPreferences.xml file and open it using Notepad or a text editor.
 
3. Locate the line: <PromptForConnectionDetails>False</PromptForConnectonDetails> and change its value from False to True. Save the StartupPreferences.xml file.
 
4. Close and re-open the Client.
 
5. Select the instance when prompted.
