Veritas DMP paths VS native OS paths on Linux

Hi all,

I'm having difficulties understading paths on Linux where DMP is installed. The server is attached to SAN (EMC Symmetrix).

For HPUX/AIX/Solaris, I remember that a cXtYdZ path both in the native form (/dev/rdsk) and in DMP form (/dev/vzx/rdmp) always leads to the same storage device.

Is it possible that on Linux this is not true?(that /dev/sdp and /dev/vx/rdmp/sda reefer to completely different storage devices?)

If Linux is the same as Solaris/HPUX, then the following commands show that:

- there are sub-paths for sub-paths of disks

- Two volume groups have a shared disk on the same server

Any help will be highly appreciated!

How is it possible that "sdf" is a sub-path for "sdaf" while it has
its own sub-paths(sdd, sdi, etc)?
Similar issue with "sdu".

Note that according to this, two volume groups on the same server have
a shared disk, which of course makes no sense.

/Have a look at wwn do they match ??? also /etx/vx/diag.d/vxdmping /dev/xxx that shows serial number if u have multiple paths which i bet u do then u should see more than 1 of same serial number

then if that case in vxdisk list they ASL ( array support library) not claiming correctly
