We recently sold a small part of our business. I was tasked with exporting all of the related EV archives and some additional maibox data.
The EV export data was imported just fine but when trying to import the Mailbox data into the other business EV server we saw lots of the below errors in the Import PST log:

PST: "Path & FileName.pst" --> Archive: "ArchiveName" (MAPI_E_CORRUPT_STORE).
Opening the PST on the server returned:
Unable to display the folder. Errors have been detected in the file “<file name>”. Quit Outlook and all mail-enabled applications, and then use the Inbox repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file.
Running ScanPST on the files of course threw up loads of errors but repairing the files made no difference to the import.
I tried to help investigate but had no knowledge of the setup of the other business EV system. The files imported just fine into our EV server.
Eventually it turned out the other business are running EV 8SP4 with Outlook 2003 SP3 and Outlook 2003 cannot open Exchange 2010 exported PST files as per KB2742408.
They updated to Outlook 2007 on the EV server and the files imported correctly.
