In my last post I showed you how you can configure the pre-requisites required for installing the Plug-in. This post will take you through installing the plug-in. To begin with you need to have administrator privileges on the system where you are trying to install the plug-in. Please note that there are some software prerequisites that must be installed on your computer as a part of the installation process. The installation program checks if the required software exists on your computer. If they are not found, the installation program automatically installs them on your computer. So let's begin.....
Run the downloaded setup file “Symantec Backup Exec Management Plug-in 1.1 for Kaseya.exe”, Click “Continue”. This will extract the package and proceed to welcome screen.
Go through the EULA, Select “I accept the term...”, Click “Next”
Choose the installation folder. This folder is used to store report templates for plug-in. This folder (/Reports) also contains an EXE to manually register reports in case user has not configured reporting services URL prior to starting installation.
On the “Ready to Install…” dialog box, confirm your settings and click “Install”
After this the Reinstall database schema will be launched in a new browser instance, once this is done you will be presented with the Kaseya logon web console. This shows that the Reinstall database schema was successfully completed and you may proceed with the installation.
Click Finish to complete the installation. Install logs are create under %allusersprofile%\Symantec\ Backup Exec Management Plug-in for Kaseya\Logs.
Note: Finish screen may take 4-5 seconds to disappear as it collects the install data for product improvement.
That's about it. The Symantec Backup Exec Management Plug-in for Kaseya has been installed successfully. Going ahead you may have a scenario where you want to access the Kaseya console on a custom port, or you may want to register the report templates manually. These are some scenarios which I will cover in detail in my next post.
