New Release: Symantec Operations Readiness Tool 3.8

On December 18, 2012, Symantec completed another release of Symantec Operations Readiness Tool (SORT)! With SORT’s focus of improving the total customer experience for NetBackup and Storage Foundation customers, we’ve added the following features and improvements to the website: This release keeps pace with the latest NetBackup family compatibility lists and release related information and also adds important new functionality as listed below.

General

• New capability to create email notifications when hot fixes/EEBs are fixed in a GA release.  This can be done via use of the SORT Notification widget or from within the Hot Fix / EEB Release Auditor widget.
• Improved navigation capability for the NetBackup family of products in the Symantec Product and Platform Support Matrix
• Support for NetBackup and OpsCenter 7.5.0.4 maintenance release in the installation and upgrade checklist and custom reports (originally made available the same day it was released via an asynchronous update)
• Support for the NetBackup 52xx 2.5.1 Appliance (DeLorean) release in the installation and upgrade checklist (originally made available the same day it was released via an asynchronous update)
• Incorporate updates from changes to all NetBackup compatibility lists (Operating System (SCL) and associated features, Hardware (HCL), etc.)
• Incorporate updates for the Hot Fix / EEB Release Auditor

Installation and Upgrade Custom Report

• Support for NetBackup & OpsCenter 7.5.0.4
• Inclusion of the latest NetBackup & OpsCenter hot fix information
• Linux version name changes for all Red Hat based Operating Systems
• Enhanced the upgrade instructions to include use of NBCC to check the integrity of the catalog

Installation and Upgrade Checklist

• Additonal filtering capability in the report based on the remaining index groups; Appliances, Indexing Server, User Interfaces and Platform Support
• The addition of a new content in the Cluster Compatibility section in the report
• Inclusion of the latest NetBackup, PureDisk, NetBackup Appliance, PureDisk Appliance and OpsCenter hot fix information
• Support for NetBackup & OpsCenter 7.5.0.4
• Support for the NetBackup 52xx 2.5.1 Appliance (DeLorean)
• Linux version name changes for all Red Hat based Operating Systems
• Additional content in the System Requirements section listing the minimum physical memory requirements for a master server
• Additional content in the System Documentation section listing relevant tech note articles derived from the Backup Planning and Performance Tuning Guide
• Enhanced the upgrade instructions to include use of NBCC to check the integrity of the catalog
• Support for Oracle Linux 6 as a master server
