Upgraded from 8.0.3 to 9.0.1 last night. using exchnage 2007. tested using outlook 2007 and 2010.

noticed that we can't delete from outlook using the X or pressing delete. there are others that had this issue on here. we can delete if using the EV menu to delete.

if we use the regulary outlook X we get...Access is denied do you want to just detele the shortcut.

a trace shows this...

Deleteo2k returned with error: 243

this different then the 164 that others get along with the technote ttp://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH75432

reset iis. restarted ev services..still not working.

Support Called,

During the upgrade, the “users can delete from vault” option was turned off. The GUI shows it as enabled, so there was no real way to tell that was the issue.

To resolve:

1.       We unchecked it (making it so no one could delete) – which is the actual setting that was occurring just not visible in the interface.

2.       We synchronized all the mailboxes on the server

3.       We checked it (making it so people could delete) – the setting we want

4.       Synchronizedthe server – we could delete from my mailbox

6.       If someone is on a different HRM, please try to delete from the archive in about an hour. (Synch  task is still running.

do you have any events on the event viewer at all?
Usuaully those type of things will be either because storage is in read only, the retention category doesn't allow for deletions or the site doesn't allow for deletions (but if that was the case you wouldn't even see the deletion)

Just as a matter of interest if you try and delete from Search.asp or ArchiveExplorer.asp, does that work?
