Accessing another EV site

Dear All,

Previously we have 3 exchange servers and only one EV (EV1) server. We have created one more EV (EV2) server on different EV site.

For testing purpose we have moved our one Exchange server to new EV (EV2) server.

However now user is not able to open the old archived items which was created on old EV server i.e.(EV1) .

We used the Web Application URL option in the desktop policy to point to the 'old' archive: (please find the attachement)

We don’t want to move users archive to new ev server as the data is very huge.

New email archiving will reside on new ev server and new shortcuts is accessible.(EV2)

Please let us know how we can access old user’s archives using shortcuts.

I have attached client logging trace file.

Hi Mayu,

As AndrewB mentioned, you need to use the right format:

Web Application URL (Exchange Outlook setting)

Description

Specifies the address of the Web Access application in one or more different vault sites. This setting enables shortcuts from the specified vault sites to work.

For example, you need to use this setting in the following cases:

  • When you want users to be able to access archived items from mailbox shortcuts in other vault sites

  • When Exchange Public Folder tasks from more than one vault site process a public folder hierarchy

Supported values

  • The URLs of Web Access applications in other vault sites. Enter one or more addresses in the following format:

    [site1_dns_alias]=URL;[site2_dns_alias]=URL

    where:

    • site1_dns_alias and site2_dns_alias are the DNS aliases of other vault sites.

    • URL is the address of the Web Access application in the vault site.

    If you specify multiple addresses, separate them with semicolons (;). The overall length of the string cannot exceed 255 characters.

    For example:

    [site1.server.com]=http://site1.server.com/
    EnterpriseVault;[site2...

Thanks a lot all of you

Now we are able to access the old archived items by double clicking on it. But when we trying to restore, it won’t restore. The shortcut becomes like watch sign (waiting for retrieving) and after few seconds it becomes shortcut icon.

Please let us know whether it is a normal behaviour or we missed something.
