Hi All,
We are trying to access the archived mails from the link VIEW THE ORIGINAL ITEM.
Whether it is possible to access the archived emails by clicking on the link (as shown in the below screenshot) and access the archived mails from outside the network.
We can open the archived emails form inside the network but using outlook anywhere we cannot able to access it form outside the network.

Yes it will work for Outlook as well.

Its not possible to access Archive items externally by clicking on "view the original item" link. Because the link is hard coded in shortcut and it always points to internal EV Server name.
@ Edit: You can access that link internally because the EV Server name can be resolved by internal DNS.
I hope this helps...

Double clicking the shortcut should work for you using Outlook anywhere though.

Thanks for your reply but can we edit it. It is fine for us if it is not working in the internal network but we want to access it outside the network.
Thanks

This link is built using the Default Web App URL of Enterprise Vault. By default it takes the EV Server name and /EnterpriseVault in the path. If you want your external FQDN in the default web app URL then you will need change the configuration via SQL.
You can refer following technote:
https://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH70238
After changing the Default Web App URL, you will need to rebuild the shortcuts. You can use RestoreShortcutBody option in policy to change the URL in shortcuts.

For more information on RestoreShortcutBody, refer following technote:

Just as a matter of interest, why wouldn't you just doubleclick the item to view it and have the client look after recalling the item as opposed to the url?
and as a side note, if you were using Outlook Web Access and ISA or TMG you could do Link Translation so it would change everything from http://evserver.internal.com to https://mail.myCompany.com/ but that wouldn't work for links in Outlook, just OWA
Seems just a strange amount of effort to go through for external users, because restore shortcut body will take time, will cause your Exchange logs to grow rapidly, also will recall all the items that have shortcuts from EV Storage etc

Hi all,
Thanks for all your inputs
Our management required that feature. I want to know if we are going to implement it as a fresh setup still it will loads on exchange and EV? How this process will impact on exchange?
If we change Default Web App URL immediately after installation( befroe archiving process) what happen to the archived item still there is rebuild shortcuts required?

If its a Fresh installation and nothing has been archived, then restoreshortcutbody is no needed. Its needed only when you have old shortcuts with OLD Default Web App hard coded on shortcuts.

Hi All,
I got the similar forum discussion here which indicates this is possible for both OWA and outlook.
Can you please check and let me know if we go for fresh installation is it possible to open links for outlook as well.
