Archive accidentally deleted - is it possible to convert shortcut body back to IPM.Note?

Somehow it looks like an admin has accidentally deleted an existing user's EV archive.

Sadly it has gone beyond the 'marked for deletion' stage and has now gone for good.
It seems that the deed was done several months ago and tape backup retention policies means we can't restore from tape.
So there is no going back.

I'm going to re-enable him so that he has a brand new archive going forward.

However he still has a load of old IPM.Note.EnterpriseVault.Shortcut items in his Outlook mailbox which contain the full text body of the email.
Trying to open the shortcut results in Oulook hanging.

Obviously any attachment is unrecoverable, but what I want to know is is it possible to somehow convert the IPM.Note.EnterpriseVault.Shortcut back to IPM.Note so that he can read the text of the message body?

Thanks.

You can use a tool like DocMessageClass to convert them:

How to bulk reset the MessageClass using third party software called "DocMessageClass.exe" for items that are stuck in an archive pending state. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH49295
