Archived emails not showing vault icon in Outlook.

Hi all,

From  reading the connect forums I can see this has been covered before, however not to a conclusion which fits my circumstances.

I have one user, at the moment at least, who has this problem. I have seen previously this has been blamed on Vista clients etc however I am able to reproduce the problem on my EV server which is running Windows 2003 and Outlook 2003 SP2. I am also able to open other user's mailboxes on the same server and the vault icon comes up as it should.

Does anyone have any ideas on this considering the fault does not appear to be client related as I have reproduced it on the server?

Thanks,

Jeremy.

Hi all,

Just to close this off. I have logged an incident with Symantec support and although the problem is not 100% solved yet it looks as though we have found the root cause. We have just upgraded from Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2007 and gave no thought to how EV would interact with EX2K7.

We have now realised we did not create the Organisational Forms in Exchange 2007 public folders for Enterprise vault. Once created I am confident this will resolve this problem.

Thanks,

Jeremy.

Hi,

Are they showing as forwarded messages?  I've seen issue where shortcuts forwarded via blackberry go back to normal icon.

Hi Mike,

I have just checked and this person is not a Blackberry user, although we have lots and lots of Blackberry users in our organisation. I have also just checked through the mailbox and none of the archived messages in any folder have the correct icon. The only way to be sure an item is an archived peice of mail is the size, but more acturately the message which says 'This message has been archived. View the original item'.

I have also just set a new email to archivepending and it also has the unopened mail icon against it.

Additionally it appears more than one user is effected by this problem.

Any suggestions from anyone greatly appreciated. :)

Jeremy.
