Backing up EV 9.0.1 with NBU 7.0.1 on VCS 5.1 SP2

All,

We just completed upgrading our lab to the following:

  • Enterprise Vault 9.0.1
  • SQL 2005 SP3
  • NetBackup 7.0.1
  • SFHA & VCS 5.1 SP2

In preparation for our impending Exchange 2010 upgrade. EV is clustered in a single local node with GCO configuration. NBU is not clustered.

We're having a heck of a time figuring out how to configure NBU to backup all of the EV resources, and where to point what directives. Does anyone have a doc or template for backing up clustered EV?

Thanks,

Mark

But honestly, EV backups are usually the same regardless of being in a cluster
 - Put EV in to a read only mode
 - Backup your Vault Store Partitions which have to be on a shared disk
 - Backup your EV Index locations again which are on a shared disk
 - Backup the SQL Databases and truncate the transaction logs
 - Take EV Out of read only mode

Nothing but specific individual windows settings would be on the physical servers themselves, and even then you would just follow regular windows backup procedures, such as system state and what not, and hopefully the VCS team know how to make sure they have a good backup of the quorum and cluster configuration settings etc
