Hi
Can anyone confirm that, without any further EV configuration, if my firewall link translations are setup correctly I should be able to see if the Enterprise Vault search home page from an external clientif I type the correct url into a web browser?
I'm not planning to give the EV server an external IP address and so looking to connect via the company OWA url and just add a slash Enterprise Vault at the end. I haven't made any changes to the EV url proxy settings on the EV server but just want ot test the redirection through the firewalls.
thanks

I think that in order to hit the search page from the outside you'd need to publish your EV server. OWA/OMA for retreiving shortcuts is a different system.

hi Andrew
yes - so it's publishing the EV server that I'm talking about...... and this work should have been completed
My understanding is that I should be able to configure the firewall so that I can use my owa listener for access through the firewall such that if I access the url https://owa.mycompany.com and through the configuration of a publishing rule I can type the url https://owa.mycompany.com/EnterpriseVault and traffic will get forwarded to the EV server.
These publishing rules have been supposedly configured but I'm not in a posivtion yet to configure the RPC over http proxy url for outlook anywhere and so I'm looking to confirm if the search option should still hit the landing page without that setting?

i'm saying that to the best of my recollection, accessing the EV Search page from the internet is not related to the outlook anywhere access or OWA, needs to be "published" separately, and is not configured in the proxy settings. any reason you haven't just tested it at this point to confirm what i'm saying?

Hi Andrew
ok thanks....sorry. So you are of the same opinion as me in that it should be a suitable test - that's great
I've only just been told that the firewall work has been completed and will ask for the tests to be carried out over the next day or two, but thought I ought to check on whether the test was valid before I suggest it, just in case the test fails and they spend the next few days in troubleshooting the issues on the firewall unnecessarily....
hopefully it will work and be fine
