Best way to deploy EV

Hi

We have two sites, UK and US

2 Node Exchange 2010 DAG running in UK and US.

UK users have mailboxes in UK Node DB and US users have mailboxes in US Node DB, we have passive copied of both DB in both locations.

around 200 mailboxes in each UK and US Node

Both Nodes are CAS and HUB server as well. So need EV OWA for both sites.

What is the best way to deploy EV in this scenario? Main EV directory server in one location and then 2nd EV storage server in other location? The directory traffic will be routed via WAN link?

Thanks in advance for your help.

1st question, what's your WAN connectivity.  Bear in mind that there is a lot of SQL "chatter" to the Directory DB during archiving so your WAN needs to be pretty responsive.  Having separate SQL for the vault stores is a good idea.

Do we have any other option? Can we have two separate EV archiving from a 2 node Exchange DAG? Just concerned about the DAG failover situation .....

Hi ia01,

I would target each Mailbox server by the relevant EV Server, US MBX Server targeted by the US EV Server, set that up so that when Exchange DAG fails over the UK EV Server will pick up the task. At that point EV (UK) will automatically carry on archiving from the 'currently passive' copy as it will now be active on the UK MBX Server, normal part of setup for DAGs, do the same for the UK EV Server and MBX Server-  http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO37852
