Can I use the VSA as the Data Access Acount for OWA/Exchange?

You can, but most organisations/security-folks think it is better to separate responsibilities/accounts/roles etc.

Further to that, I would say it is best practice not to use the VSA.  This TN:

Says this:

It should be a separate account; do not reuse the VSA as the OWA Data Access Account.

That is true... but like the VSA being in the Domain Admins group, it's 'possible', ie it can work.
