Can add additional servers to decrease the initial backlog quicker?

I think I would add them into the indexing group for faster indexing, but what's the equivalent for archiving? How can i use the extra horsepower to increase archiving?

Without know details of the environment it is a bit tough to advise. 

What version of EV?

What version of Exchange?

How many Exchange servers?

How many EV servers?

How many users?

What are the EV Server spec's?

What is the backlog volume?

more archiving tasks=>new server

but why do you want more performance? Is the reason, that the queues are getting larger so not all items get archived.

Then maybe you want to increase the schedule of the archiving task.

1 EV server should be enough for about 3000-4000 users.
