Closing a Centera partition and using NTFS -- Effect on users?

EDU

I'm running EV 8.0 SP4, soon to be 9.0.1.

We use a Centera. If I create a new vault store partition on NTFS in the same vault store group and close the Centera partition, do the users still see the single archive that they saw before?

Regards,

Ethan

A partition is a physical space where data is stored whereas an archive is a logical boundary inside the application. Changes to your vault store partitions would not affect how archives appear to users.

Ethan,

running with different partition types is something we do a lot when testing EV. From an end-user point-of-view they will not notice anything different as long as the previously archived data is still available on the Centera as the old shortcuts will continue to point to the data blobs on the Centera. One thing you might need to check is the backup mode settings as you may previously have relied on Centera replication to handle shortcut conversion

Thanks to both of you for your replies. So if a user's archive is split between two separate partitions, it will appear as a single archive in Archive Explorer?

We don't use shortcuts in our environment.

that's correct, the user only sees one archive when they open Archive Explorer.
