Need your help please
Could you advise on the following? Our client is planning on migrating there exchange environment into the cloud and we need to know if they would still be able to accesses there current enterprise vault archived mail that will still be locally. would they be required to upgrade etc

What version of EV do they have locally?
Essentially an archived item is 'just' a shortcut in the mailbox. A stub. That stub when combined with the EV Outlook Add-in performs the steps necessary to retrieve the item, using a HTTP link/URL... to where-ever. If that is locally.. good.
But.. if they are moving their mailboxes to the cloud, they won't get any new archiving taking place.. right?

Correct archiving will not be taking place as we just needed to know if they would be able to still retrieval there items ones there mailboxes have been migrated to the cloud so no major changes need to take place

Aditionally each user could be furnished with the URL for EV search &/or Archive Explorer. They wouldnt be able to restore any mails back to thier mailboxes though.
