Could not mark the folder with File System Archiving information. Access is denied.

Hi,

I'm trying to define an archiving target in Enterprise Vault, but I keep getting this error:

"Failed to save or update details for folder 'FolderName' in the Directory Service.
Could not mark the folder with File System Archiving information. Access is denied."

I've been searching the KB but I've only found those two articles which don't seem to apply to my case:

• https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000087926 suggests to use the Streams tool to delete any corrupted alternate streams, but I can't find any.
• https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000006091 suggests to run the VAC from the machine where EV is running, which I did (I have everything on the same server: Active Domain DC, EV, VAC).

The EV Directory Service seems to be running, according to Windows Service manager. Is there possibly any other service I should be looking at? Or perhaps a firewall rule... any help?

Are you sure that the EV admin account has proper permissions on the folder to be archived? Did you install a FSA agent on the file server or is this agentless archival?

Just double check your scenario with the related one in the admin guide on pages 43-46 & 172-176. The guide is for version 11.0, if your version is different you may need to check out the same.

Access is denied is most likely a permission error.

Check if you have apropriate rights on the fileserver.

Also check your firewall 139 and 445 TCP
