Is it possible to dedupe the data on a closed partition? Is there a tool or 3rd party app that can scan the entire partition, detect duplicate items and remove them?
This is while using EMC Celerra unified storage platform for the partition.

unless you modified the default settings of your vault store partition, EV already does this for you at the application level - from a storage perspective. the other "sharing level" (aka dedupe boundary/domain) is set at the vault store database level

Well we had the default options for dedupe and compression selected but been told the data wasn't actually deduped at the back end. So now wondering what we can do to rectify. Is there a tool that can assist?

you can create new partitions and migrate the data with tools. the questions you probably want to answer in order to justify the time and expense are how much space do you think you'll reclaim and how much is it worth to you?

Thanks Andy, the expense is prohibitive and i doubt we'll reclaim enough space to justify the cost. It was probably wishful thinking that this could be done without too much hassle.

Globanet Balance was designed to solve the two problems noted above with the following solutions:
2. Eliminating index duplication, so messages do not end up in multiple journal mailboxes.
