DefaultArchiveID Missing

Happy New Year Everyone

We have had a user return to our company and he had a new account created. This in turn created a new EV account under the same name. The user then was granted permissions to resume their old account, so we in turn disabled both AD accounts (inc exchange) deleted the new Vault, enabled the old account and hoped everything would sync back up

Unlike past occassions this time this one does not sync back up

The EV client Log has the line DEFAULTARCHIVEID= as blank

I have tried everything i can think of, and everything seems ok on the EV side, just the local client will not sync

Info:

OS of Client = Win 7

Exchange Client = Outlook 2010

EV Server OS = 2008 R2 Standard

EV Version = 9.0.4.1097

EV Client Version = 10.0.2.1112

Rather try here before logging a call with Symantec

I think in that case a call to support is necessary.  Sounds like you need some hands on support..

Hello,

When you enabled the old account, that was in AD I assume?

Is that old account provisioned in EV? If so, is that account Enabled for Archiving? If so, disable, and then enable again. when enabling, make sure the correct archive is selected. When done, sync the mailbox from the corresponding archive task. That might help.

You might need to Zap the user with EVPM and then re-enable.

Hello DarthMaul,

As Tony mentioned, remove the EV properties from the mailbox and re-enable it. Follow this technote:

How to remove (zap) Enterprise Vault (EV) properties from Archive-Enabled Exchange mailboxes
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH35614

I hope this helps.

Thank you GabeV. I have tried to ZAP and get the following error:

Creating privileged MAPI session....

Error creating priviledged MAPI session

I am running this as the SVC account for EV and this is a local admin - does this need any higher permission over exchange?

Nope, it doesn't need higher permissions.

Please see:

When running EVPM, "Error creating privileged MAPI session" is returned.

If that isn't it, please post the error from the Event log.

You didn't mention the Exchange version, but take a look at this post as well:

Thank you guys the link from Tony helped.

Well after Zapping the mailbox and re-enabling, and restarting the EV Task's the same thing remains, the mailbox fails to sync up with the local Outlook of the user - hmmm, can i manually set the archive on a local client? or is this looking like a Symantec Support Call?

after zapping and re-enabling did you open and close Outlook?

If you open Outlook for this user on a different machine does it work?

Hi Tony, after zapping and re-enabling, i have now left this over night and tried on another laptop and same issue - no Archives to select for the user.
