Defrag Exchange 2010 DAG Databases

jt-cp
Level 3

I need to defragment (shrink) Exchange 2010 databases.

When Exchange Databases are taken offline defragemented (shrunk), it really creates a new database with different guid.  Will EV pick this up automatically or this will break the link?

Using eseutil /mh switch, it will give  a rand value which will change once defragemented and DAG copies needs to be reseeded.

Hi there,

Yes, as long as the Exchange server is configured as a target in EV and a given user is enabled for archiving, it doesn't matter on which database it seats or being moved - archiving will continue seamlessly.
