Deleting Old Provisioning Groups

Hello,

We are running Enterprise Vault 9.0.4 against Exchange 2003.  We have some old Provisioning Groups that we do not use any more and do not contain any current mailboxes.  The old groups have been used in the past and we still have vaults that would have been provisioned originally using them (ex-staff, staff that are now in another provisioning group).

Am I safe to remove these old groups without impacting any exisitng vaults that may have been provisioned with them previously as we are getting Event ID 41141 about provisioning groups containing no members.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

Yup, just delete them, i believe that event even tells you to remove them if they're not going to be used.
If any users were associated with the provisioning group then you would get a warning saying enabled users were found without a provisioning group, and until you assign them to another group, no archiving would occur for that user or archive.

But yes, you can remove them safely
